REFLECT ON THIS

"Of and about a legend called MIRROUR"

As legends go, and they usually do, they (MIRROUR, that is) started life as lowly, but happy children, with the prospect of becoming lowly, but unhappy adults.

For Roland and Sal, two young lads who would one day search for fame and fortune (though not necessarily in that order), this simply wasn’t enough. So, as infants they were brought by gypsy caravan to the garden spot of the Western World—Long Island. Although neither knew of the others existence, they each shared a desire to someday learn of said existence, drink tea together, and create fine music.

At some point in the foreseeable future, they slowly became fast friends, fastly becoming slow in the the process. But there was no one who had the same faith in their talents as they themselves once did. Oh, it was easy for others to say “Music is fine boys, but you’ll never make a living at it!” ... because they hadn’t. Made a living at it, that is.

One day though, Sal, for reasons unknown, dearly departed to find his fortune in California. And there, while panning for gold nuggets, he found something more valuable than precious metals. He actually found someone who believed in their talent ... someone, who after asking to borrow $28 dollars, pleaded to join them on their quest to make music ... After examining him for signs of diphtheria or yellow fever, he dusted him off, put him (and his guitar) in a gunnysack, and feeling secure with the casual use of a palindrome, called his name Bob.

Alas, what they lacked was a drummer boy. Oh, they searched every hillside and shire for many a time, but the right one was never to be found ...

Then, one day, a knock came at their door. Upon opening, why—look! There was a baby in a wicker basket with a note tied to his toes saying “Please look after this baby ... we are of humble means and can no longer care for him, even in a humble way. We are in danger, begging your humble pardon, of being thrown out on a not-so- humble street, on our humble behinds. Our son can beat the tops of pots and pans with a wooden spoon and, as you are in need of a [little] drummer boy, he should adequately fill your needs ... or possibly give you a massive headache from all the pounding ...”

Well, in one flash of unity and inspiration, or perhaps that’s two flashes, they promptly named him Richard, who grew up to be Steve ... and then changed his name to Dave, who later sold his shares to Randy, who eventually agreed to Gender Affirming Surgery to become Phil ... who promptly quit the band before it was even formed.

In short, Sal and Bob took turns playing the drums ... when they weren’t playing with dolls.

To make this long story even longer, they eventually called themselves MIRROUR (having just looked into one) (a mirrour, that is), since “The Dapper Diapers”, “Dirty Sweat Sox”, and “The Flying Zippers” were already taken.

Next, just before they ran out of money, they ran into a recording studio (and after recovering from the impact), produced a six (or was it eight?) song EP called “Black and White” (because they couldn’t afford COLOUR after paying off the aftermath of the accident/studio incident) ...

In the future and looking back with reckless abandon, this all reads like a historical, ancient past, but really, right now, in the present, MIRROUR has come to enjoy the atmosphere and slow pace of the (modern-day) recording studio over a fast-track life of juggling, suitcases, instruments, checkbooks, alimony payments, groupies and timetables (in that order). With your help, they can continue to do what they enjoy, and do so well.

THANK YOU for supporting the Music of MIRROUR ... and, if you have not supported said music, then, stop reading this RIGHT NOW and get busy! Supporting ‘said music’, that is.

Soon enough you, too (as well as the Irish band, U2) , can enjoy a hearty slice of MIRROUR'S MARVELOUS MUSICAL MAYHEM as their great singles and albums hit the airwaves (as we used to say in Broadcasting) and come flooding into your Living Room.
